In Spring 2018, I took a Digital Photography class at JMU. I was introduced for the first time a real class using DSLRs and all that entails. I learned how to use professional lighting in a studio with many different techniques. I used both still life and portrait set ups, although found I preferred still life because I could work for hours tweaking the smallest details and they would get annoyed or too tired.

Above is my final project for the class. I knew I wanted to use still life and, being a Creative Advertising major, incorporate the feel of advertising without going for advertising shots. My theme started out a different textures of things that go together and later I added a twist after I loved the shot of the shot glass with my lime and salt. Each shot after got crazier and crazier as I thought of different things to add into the combination to make things weird.

These two photos are some of my favorite I took in the studio. I loved playing around with the gradient background and high key lighting.

I moved the lighting behind the backdrop for this shot to light only the petals. I liked how the lighting peeped through the fabric of the fake flower.
